Join us for a 3hr historical stumble down the "street of shame". Starting in the shadow of the iconic St.Paul's cathedral, we explore the tiny backstreets and rambling courtyards the ancient City of London is famous for. We follow in the drunken footsteps of literary greats including Dickens, Shakespeare, Pepys & Johnson whilst pausing for a drink in at least 4 of the most historic pubs dating as far back as the 1500's. From discovering art nouveau gems to glamorous Victorian gin palaces we enjoy a variety of pub styles and breweries along the way. It's not a prescriptive tour, so you choose & pay for your drinks along the way. We're here to offer recommendations, and you can often "sip before you sup" with a few tasters on request from the bars along the way. This allows you to indulge as much or as little as you desire! Non-drinkers can soak up the history, and wine & gin-lovers are also well catered for. We usually finish up on the edge of Covent Garden perfect for theatre-land, restaurants and of course more pubs! Please note this ride takes place on a combination of country lanes and town roads, mostly with light traffic. It is important you are a competent and confident cyclist. Starting at our shop in St Ives, we'll get you set up with the right size eBike and helmet and explain how the bikes work. We'll then lead you on a ride exploring the hidden viewpoints and fascinating history of St Ives. We'll take a circular route following quiet lanes for views of the Moors and Atlantic Coast to the West and on a clear day the South Coast We will then descend to Carbis Bay Beach and if time allows a couple of stunning hidden viewpoints with incredible views across Porthminster Beach to St Ives Harbour. From here we will return to the shop and if time allows ride up to the lookout on the Island. Along the way we'll share some of the weird and wonderful history of St Ives. If we are lucky there is often a good chance of seeing seals in the water, gannets diving and if we are really lucky dolphins. We meet on the Royal Mile and start by giving a little background history to Edinburgh and the Castle to help put everything into context. Moving up to the castle esplanade where you will learn about the Edinburgh Military Tattoo and two of the most famous figures from Scottish history; Robert the Bruce and William Wallace. Entering the Castle we stop by the Argyle Battery where you will learn about the 1 o'clock gun. Moving on we head down to the Hospital Square where we get impressive views from the Western Panorama before heading up towards the castle barracks and prisoner of war camp, all these areas have enthralling stories that only a guide can bring to life. We then climb to the top of Castle Rock entering the medieval section of Edinburgh Castle. Here we see the oldest building in Edinburgh, St Margaret’s Chapel and Mons Meg, a monstrous canon! The standard tour will take place in the Old Town, for which we will meet in front of the St Giles Cathedral. If you already visited the old town and would like to try something different, I can also offer alternative locations. Here is a list of my favourite options, I will ask if you prefer these when you book: - Holyrood Park (for nature lovers): park in the centre of Edinburgh, just down the royal mile. We will head to St. Margaret's Loch and take pictures throughout the path on the way there. Perfect for nature lovers and for who wants a bit of calm in a busy day. - Calton Hill (great city view): hill with city views that hosts a number of monuments. It's one of the most popular postcard spots. You have an amazing choice of backgrounds (City Centre, Harbour, Arthur's seat and more) so we will never run out of pictures to take. - Dean Village (urban style): Bucolic village crossed by a tranquil stream, with gardens and 19th-century buildings. Suitable for people who are looking for a more urban style (the river allows for nature to also be included if desired) Every tour is very personal to me and I will do my best to make you feel at ease. Solent Motorboat Charter to The Isle of Wight

Come explore The Solent with us onboard YOLO (You Only Live Once). A fast, seaworthy and comfortable day cruising vessels for up to 8 guests. YOLO will get you to your destination quickly, safely and in great style. A day you will talk about forever! Destination: Island Sailing Club, Cowes. The boat trip will last for approximately 4 hours, we will pop across The Solent where you can purchase lunch and a drink at The Island Sailing Club if you wish or another one of Cowes high streets many eateries. The sailing club offers and very relaxed atmosphere and a beautiful view of The Central Solent. It also has plenty of outside terrace space if the sun is shining. Pre or post lunch if time is on our side we can visit one our favourite anchorages, Osbourne Bay or Priory Bay. Here we can drop the anchor, swim in the bay, have drinks onboard and relax in total comfort before heading back to The Camber Docks in Portsmouth Harbour. It's probably also quite important for me to mention that their is an electric flushing toilet onboard, a cabin to get changed in full privacy, a small fridge/freezer, plus a deck shower for anyone wanting a freshwater rinse after a dip in the sea. Our vessel is fully coded with all safety equipment onboard, and our skipper is fully qualified and experienced with excellent knowledge of the local area.

Pilgrims' Path to Holy Island across the tidal sands

We will follow in the footsteps of St Cuthbert and countless pilgrims who have crossed the sands at low tide to Holy Island (Lindisfarne). The story begins with the Romans and moves to the mid 7th century when the King of Northumbria converted to Christianity and instructed a monk (Aidan) to establish a monastery on the island. On reaching the island the timeline moves to the building of Lindisfarne Priory in the 12th century. There is a limited window of time to cross the tidal estuary and care must be taken to avoid both the incoming tide and boggy areas on the route. This means start times for walks will vary - please check at time of booking. I will guide you safely and there will be plenty of opportunity to see seabirds and seals as we cross. This is an atmospheric experience for many people and once on the island there will be time to explore and maybe have an ice cream before we return by vehicle to our start point. The walk is just under four miles in total. The return trip is made in a car (there is no child car seat available).

The tour examines how Glasgow went from being a small rural medieval city around 500 CE to the world's powerhouse with a population of over a million people. The city has re-invented itself several times and is now transforming itself into one of worlds most beautiful cities from an ugly industrial despoiled blot. Trace the slave trade and the ruthless barons who profited from the misery of millions of Africans. But before them it was Scotsmen who were enslaved to colonies in the Americas. We explore Glasgow's complex social, relig1ous and political past when tanks patrolled Glasgow city centre and riots led to executions at Glasgow Cross. Glasgow has it all from political religious and social strife. Gordon is a great raconteur, a trained actor with a comedic talent. Starting George Square, through the financial district (Glasgow's fifth avenue), Buchanan street then exploring the Merchant City, Hutcheson's Hospital, Ramshorn Kirk, Old fruit market, Tron Kirk and Steeple then down to the Medieval High street and Mercat Cross.
