Visitors can also sample approximately 100 varieties of Japanese sake, Honkaku Shochu, and Mirin which items change almost every month. At my cozy kitchen, you’ll learn how to make traditional and delicious Japanese confectionery (wagashi), including namagashi (fresh sweets) and yakigashi (baked treats), along with preparing matcha tea. • Make four types of wagashi with my step-by-step guidance: tricolor dango (three-colored sweet rice dumplings), fresh fruit daifuku (fresh fruit wrapped in soft mochi rice cake), mochi ice cream (demonstration only), and dorayaki (sweet red bean pancake sandwiches). You’ll even emboss your dorayaki with a traditional hot stamp design! • Before we get hands-on, I’ll share insights into the cultural significance and techniques behind each Japanese treat. •At the end of the lesson, you’ll have the chance to experience a short tea ceremony, where you’ll learn how to prepare matcha by whisking it yourself and enjoy it alongside the sweets you made.
