Parks & Nature

The hike to Preikestolen - the Pulpit Rock - is one of the most famous hikes in Norway. The hike is possible from about late April to October, depending on winter snowfall, and gives a beautiful view of the Lysefjorden area. The hike begins at the carpark at Preikestolhytta. To get there you can now drive or take a bus through the world’s longest tunnel (under sea level). It goes from Stavanger to Tau. GoFjords offers roundtrip tickets, departing from Radisson Blu Atlantic Hotell close to the bus station. Pulpit Rock Tours also has offers. Remember to book tickets online in advance!

Solastranden is a pretty, sandy beach close to Stavanger Airport Sola. It is nice to walk along the seaside in any season, and in summertime it is even great for swimming. Unfortunately it is not too easy to get to by public transport, but there are both local buses and the Airport bus running to Sola Airport. If you get hungry the Sola Strand Hotel serves food/drinks for beach walkers in beach clothes also :)
